One of the largest firms in Taiwan, Lee & Li is also one of the most respected IP outfits. Its main office is located in Taipei with branch offices in Hsinchu, Taichung and Southern Taiwan. There are more than 200 IP professionals, including lawyers and attorneys spread across its offices. Clients include Samsung, Qualcomm, 3M and Toshiba.
In July 2012, the team represented Toshiba in two civil actions for patent infringement before the IP Court. Both suits ended in favourable judgments for its client and permanent injunctions against both defendants. In one of the two civil suits, the judge awarded full damages to Toshiba amounting to NT$160 million ($5.4 million).
In another case, the team defended Nokia against an individual asserting that Nokia had infringed on his patent relating to a lens assembly. The IP Court accepted the firm's argument that Nokia's product did not fall within the scope of the patent alleged by the individual. Nokia prevailed in both the trial and appeals courts.
